    Cinnamon Apple Chips

These Baked Cinnamon Apple Chips are a delicious and healthy alternative to traditional afternoon snacks. They’re crispy, naturally sweetened and oven baked, no food dehydrator required!

Fruit and veggie chips are a great substitute to many typical potato chips and salty snacks on the market. This recipe uses no sugar and the chips are baked, not fried.

Most of homemade apple chips use a mandolin, which I’m sure is much easier, but unfortunately I don’t have one. So I took my time slicing the apple chips. One batch takes about 2 hours in the oven, but the end results are worth the wait!

Be warned: this snack is highly addicting and will have you returning to the kitchen for more!

What are the chips made of?

Apples and cinnamon. That’s it! Simply slice, add a sprinkle of cinnamon, and bake.

How to make the apple chips?

    1. Preheat oven to 250 F.
    2. Lay the sliced apples flat on a parchment covered baking sheet. You may need to use two pans so that the apples are not overlapping.
    3. Dust the apples with the cinnamon. Flip them over and dusk again.
    4. Place the baking trays in the oven for 1 hour. Remove the trays and flip the apples and put them back for 1 more hour.
    5. Turn the oven off and leave the baking sheets in the oven of an additional 15 minutes to begin cooling them down.
    6. Remove them from the oven and allow to cool completely to gain their crispness.
    7. Place them in an air tight container up to one week. (if they last that long!)

The best tips for baking the apple chips?

    • Fuji and gala apples are the most popular but I used Honey Crisp Apples for this recipe and they were amazing.
    • When picking your apples make sure to choose a larger size of apples. The slices will shrink while baking in the oven.
    • Using a mandolin is a great tool to get the apple slices however if you do not have one, like myself, a knife will work just fine.
    • The trick is trying to keep them as thin as possible and as evenly as possible. The thinner the better because they cook faster and will be very crispy.
    • Spread them out into 1 layer on two baking sheets. Try not to overlap the apple chips so that they can get as crispy as possible.
    • The apple chips can be stored in an airtight container at room temperature for up to one week.
