Are you ready for a green sweet treat? Baked Banana Donuts with Matcha Icing– super simple to make, full of flavor and great for St. Patrick’s Day!
Since it’s St. Patrick’s Day and I have a bit of a sweet tooth, I decided to indulge and enjoy some Baked Banana Matcha Donuts. Even though I eat pretty healthy most of the time, I definitely DESERVE to indulge after this week. Homemade baked donuts are my favorite. I remember these Cinnamon Donuts which were the first donut recipe I ever made. I was so excited when I bought my first donut pan, and to my surprise baked donuts are super easy to make.
I flavored this particular batch of baked donuts with a Matcha Green Tea Icing. It gives these donuts a pretty bright green hue and makes them festive in celebration for St. Patrick’s Day. Matcha powder comes in different grades—be sure to use ceremonial grade for the brightest color and cleanest flavor.
Why You'll Love These Baked Banana Matcha Donuts
These Baked Banana Matcha Donuts come together in about 20 minutes and taste delicious! No need for frying, they’re baked in the oven and get a burst of color from the Matcha Green Tea Icing. When you make a batch of baked donuts, you’re basically making tube-shaped muffins.
Keep in mind – baked donuts do not taste like fried ones, they taste more like a cake but they’re a lot easier to make, you just need a donut pan. Unlike conventional donuts that consist of fried dough and covered in sugary glaze, you can enjoy these Baked Banana Matcha Donuts without too much guilt and without sacrificing any deliciousness!
