There’s nothing like a glass of this watermelon juice with mint and lime. It’s an easy and refreshing summertime drink that you can make in a blender in no time!

While the weather may not be helping keep us cool during the summer months, we can help ourselves cool off with a nice cold and refreshing glass of this watermelon juice with mint and lime.
When I think about the summer, I instantly think about watermelon season! In North America, watermelon season runs between May and September, with the summer being the most popular months to buy watermelon. I love to buy a fresh watermelon, cut it up and make a watermelon salad but there’s nothing more refreshing than a cold glass of watermelon juice with a hint of mint and a dash of lime on a warm summer day.
Fresh watermelon juice is one of my all-time favorite drinks for those warmer days – it’s sweet, refreshing, and so easy to make. It’s perfect for parties, BBQ’s and cookouts. The combination of watermelon, mint, and lime in this flavorful summer drink will keep you and your guest coming back for more.
Equipment You'll Need
There’s not many items you need to make the fresh watermelon juice recipe.
- High Speed Blender: You’ll use the blender to blend together the watermelon cubes, lime juice and mint.
- Fine Mesh Strainer: The strainer will help extract the juice from the watermelon by catching the pulp. This step isn’t necessary but it makes the drink nice and smooth.
Ingredients You'll Need
This watermelon mint juice is sweet, minty and is slightly tart. It is so refreshing, it’s hard to put the glass down once you start drinking. The juice is made with 3 basic ingredients and 1 optional ingredient. Here’s what you’ll need:
- Watermelon - the best watermelons are usually a deep, dark green, heavy and usually have a yellow splotch on one side.
- Lime juice - helps balance the sweet flavor and adds some acidity. You’ll need 2 limes (or 2 ounces lime juice).
- Mint - adds an amazing flavor and helps balance the natural sweetness of the watermelon.
- Watermelon Kombucha - this is optional but a great addition to add flavor and a nice fizz to the drink. You can also add a splash of sparkling water instead.
How to Make Watermelon Mint Juice
Making this watermelon juice recipe couldn’t get any easier. Here’s how to make it:
- Blend: Add the watermelon, lime and mint to a high speed blender, and blend until smooth.
- Strain: this step is optional. You could skip it if you don’t mind pulp in your juice.
- Pour: The juice tastes great by itself but topping the juice with a splash of kombucha makes it even more refreshing.
- Garnish: Top the glass with a lime slice and extra mint.
How to Store the Watermelon Lime Mint Juice
You can pour the watermelon juice into a glass bottle, jar, or pitcher or any airtight container and store it in the fridge for up to 5 days. You can also freeze any leftover juice into an ice cube tray to make watermelon cubes.
Is It a Thyroid-Friendly Recipe? Not only does watermelon juice taste delicious but it's also naturally sweet, which means no additional sweetener is needed for this drink. It can help improve digestion since it contains plenty of water and a small amount of fiber, both of which are necessary for healthy digestion. It can help you stay hydrated because it is 92% water. It also helps improve skin health with an abundance of Vitamin C. Vitamin A is also important for healthy skin since it helps create and repair skin cells.
Recipe FAQ
The green stripes should be a deep, dark green, while the pale stripes should be a light yellow. The watermelon should have a distinct yellow ‘worn’ patch on one side of the melon and it should also be dull (shiny means underripe).
It’s when you pour the juice through a mesh strainer to get rid of a majority of the pulp. When straining the juice, try not to press the pulp down into the sieve to prevent some of the pulp from going through the strainer. Instead, let it naturally drain over the container and using a small spoon make a circular or back and forth motion until all the juice has drained.
No, you don't, however the pulp will make the drink a bit thicker if you don’t strain it.
You can also add a splash of sparkling watermelon water instead.
You can pour it into a glass bottle, jar, or pitcher and store it in the fridge for up to 5 days.
