Collard greens

A meatless take on a Southern favorite dish. This Meatless Southern Collard Greens recipe is full of flavor and tender and it's the perfect side dish for your holiday dinners. These collard greens are so good, you won’t even miss the meat in the recipe!

INGREDIENTS

Collard Greens Olive Oil Onion Garlic Vegetable Broth Smoked Paprika Red Pepper Flakes Salt Ground Black Pepper Chipotle Hot Sauce

Wash and Cut the Collards

Step 1

Wash the collards in the sink and rinse them with water. Move them into a big bowl and drain the water from the sink. Repeat the process until the water is clear. Then cut them into strips.

Cooking the Collards

Step 2

- Saute the onions until golden brown then add in the garlic.  - Pour in the vegetable broth and add the collards and cover to cook for a minimum of 2 hours.

Seasoning the Collards

Step 3

Add in the salt, black pepper, smoked paprika and red pepper flakes, adjust to taste.

How to Serve Them

Step 4

Top the collards with some hot sauce or they can be served with a side cornbread or as a side dish for dinner.
