Discover and support black-owned businesses to shop. By supporting and spreading awareness we help black businesses thrive and bring wealth to the black community.
Green America said it best, “If consumer spending accounts for 70 percent of the entire US economy, imagine what directing some of that spending power to Black-owned businesses across the country can do.”
Black-owned businesses are so important in the fight for racial justice. One of the most powerful ways we can take action as consumers is through supporting the black community by purchasing from black-owned businesses. When you buy from these businesses, you support financial freedom and agency in the black community. I’ve rounded up 4 Black-Owned Businesses where each entrepreneur has found unique ways to contribute to the greater good.
4 Black-Owned Businesses to Shop:
Partake
“Super Delicious Cookies”
As a Black female CEO & founder, Denise is passionate about raising awareness of Black and female entrepreneurship and increasing opportunity for women and people of color seeking careers in the food industry.
All of Partakes cookies are always made gluten-free, non-GMO, vegan, and free from the top 8 allergens. They have meticulously curated each and every recipe to find the perfect combination of ingredients that are safe for those with food allergies, healthy AND are absolutely delicious.
First up, the Cookie Butter Soft-Baked Cookies. They’re super soft, perfectly spiced and they almost remind me of a gingersnap cookie. They melt in your mouth and have so much flavor. You would never guess that they're vegan.
Next, the classic Crunchy Chocolate Chip Cookies. Who doesn’t love a good ol’ chocolate chip cookie. I know I do! They definitely punch a crisp crunch in each bite which is then followed by the melted milk chocolate chip flavor. All I needed next was a tall glass of milk!
Melanin Apparel
“African American T-Shirts”
https://www.melaninapparel.com
Melanin Apparel is a company focusing on bringing pride back to the black community. They are black-owned and operated! The brand encourages all people of the African descent to celebrate our cultural differences while highlighting the beauty of blackness and the power of melanin.
When I saw this shirt, I had to have it because I can relate to the saying. Growing up, I was asked many times, “What are u mixed with?” My reply was always the same, “I’m black”. Then came the infamous, “Are you mixed with Spanish?” “.. No.” I even had a running joke with a friend from high school “I am Not Spanish". So it only seemed fitting to purchase this shirt “I am Black, mixed with Black”.
Drink Koia
“Plant-based Protein Drinks & Shakes"
“Koia is not for the few, it’s for the many.” The founders of Drink Koia saw firsthand the toll that over-stressed lives and bad eating habits had on people and wanted to create products that enabled people to live healthier lives.
Koia is a plant-based protein drink. Koia has a proprietary complete protein blend in each of their protein drinks of brown rice, pea and chickpea proteins with all 9 essential amino acids to support your body's natural renewal and maintenance. Also, every bottle of Koia protein contains:
- 18g of protein
- 4-6 g of sugar
- Dairy free
- Soy free
- Non-GMO
- Vegan
- High Fiber
- High Protein
- Low sugar
- Gluten-Free
I’ve always noticed these drinks in my local grocery store and walked right passed them. I’m not a fan of “drinking my calories” however this would be perfect for an active person who’s always on the go and needs to keep up with their protein intake. I picked up Koia Cacao Bean, Vanilla Bean and Chocolate Banana Protein Drinks. Out of all 3, the Cacao Bean was my favorite, however I might be a little biased due to the fact that I absolutely love chocolate. But don’t just take my word for it, go grab a Koia and try it yourself!
McBride Sisters Collection
"Black-Owned Wine Company"
https://www.mcbridesisters.com
Their story is proof that a bond can form over a bottle of wine; a truth that comes to life with every McBride Sisters wine. Newly found sisters who were raised across the world from one another, one among the vines of Monterey, California and the other in Marlborough, New Zealand, Robin and Andréa’s love affair with wine was planted within them from an early age while growing up in two of the world’s most iconic wine-growing regions.
In 2005, the sisters found themselves together in California, sharing the same passion for all things wine. Over time, the McBride Sisters grew into what is not only the largest Black-owned wine company in the United States, but one of the most inclusive, accessible, socially aware and sustainable.
The McBride Sisters Black Girl Magic collection is an ode to the black culture and story, it’s inspired by the magic and resilience of Black women, to be enjoyed by all. l’m a lover of all red wines but I especially love a good Red Blend. With every sip you’ll notice the chocolate cherry flavors typical of Merlot blend with the peppery spice of Cabernet to round out the full body. Perfect for a girls night paired with a cheese charcuterie board and some dark chocolate.
Disclaimer: I was NOT compensated with products to write about on my blog. I purchased these products with my own money to support black businesses.
